Marinar Netscape 6.2 Mail Configuration Instructions

Setting up Netscape 6.2 Mail for e-mail is easy. Follow our simple instructions below and you'll be sending and receiving e-mail within minutes!

Note:  These screenshots are from a PC running WindowsXP. If you're running any other version of Windows, buttons and window borders will appear slightly differently than depicted here. However, this will not affect the accuracy of the instructions presented here; this document is useful for all versions of Windows loaded with Netscape 6.2 Mail. Users of older versions of Netscape Mail may also find these instructions useful, as the positions of menus and options changed little between versions.

Please report discrepancies or problems to Marinar Technical Support.

Step 1

After opening Netscape Mail, click on the Edit menu, then on Main & Newsgroups Account Settings... near the bottom.

*** NOTE ***
If opening Netscape Mail brought you to an account creation wizard, skip ahead to Step 3.

Step 2

Enter mail.mailbag.net for Server Name. Be sure to turn off Use name and password, else you will not be able to send mail!

*** NOTE FOR ADVIZEXWEB AND MIDWEST WEB CUSTOMERS ***

Unless you have specifically asked for a new Marinar mailbag.net address, your SMTP Server address is mail.advizexweb.com or mail.mwweb.com, whichever matches your e-mail address.

When finished entering the SMTP Server Name, click New Account.

Step 3

This is the first screen of the New Account creation wizard. Be sure to select ISP or email provider.

When finished, click Next.

Step 4

Type your name as you would like it to appear on outgoing messages. Here is where you would use correct punctuation and capitalization so as to make it as clear as possible to your recipients who you are!

Type your e-mail address exactly. This is the address that mail will go to when your recipients click Reply, so be sure it's accurate!

When finished, click Next.

Step 5

Your Incoming Mail Server is the same as the Outgoing Mail Server Name entered in Step 2.

When finished, click Next.

Step 6

For mailbag.net users, your User Name is the same as the first part of your e-mail address, and has most likely already been entered for you.

For mwweb.com and advizexweb.com users, your mail server user name is your full e-mail address. So if your e-mail address is user@mwweb.com, your mail server user name is 'user@mwweb.com', and you will have to add '@mwweb.com' to the User Name in this step.

When finished, click Next.

Step 7

In this step, you can change the name that Netscape Mail gives to your e-mail account. This name is only for Netscape Mail and will not affect your e-mail account or your ability to send or receive mail. We recommend you just click Next here.

Step 8

This is just a review of the information you've entered so far. In this step, verify the accuracy of your typing. If you find a mistake, use the Back button to make corrections.

When satisfied, click Finish.

Step 9

Click OK here, and you'll be on your way!

That's all there is to it! You're now ready to send and receive e-mail using Netscape Mail, Netscape's latest mail program! Combined with the fast and reliable service offered by Marinar Communications, you've got a powerful, versatile solution to your Internet mailing needs!
