OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6.00
Marinar Outlook Express 6.00 Configuration
Instructions
Setting up Outlook Express for e-mail is easy.
Follow our simple instructions below and you'll be sending and receiving e-mail
within minutes!
Note: These screenshots are from a PC running WindowsXP. If you're running
any other version of Windows (i.e. Windows 95, Windows 98, etc.), buttons and window borders will
appear slightly differently than depicted here. However, this will not affect the accuracy
of the instructions presented here; this document is useful for all versions of Windows
loaded with Outlook Express 6.00. Users of Outlook Express 5.50 may also find these
instructions useful, as the positions of menus and options did not change between
versions (only particular wordings).
Please report discrepancies or problems to
Marinar Technical Support.
Step 1

After opening Outlook Express, click on the Tools
menu, then on Accounts near the bottom.
*** NOTE *** If opening Outlook Express
brought you to a screen immediately asking for your "Display Name," skip ahead to step 3.
Step 2

Click on the Mail tab. Next, click on
Add (the top button on the right) and then on Mail... in the menu
that opens.
Step 3

Type in your name as you want it to be seen on
messages that you send. Feel free to use proper capitalization and spacing for
clarity. What you type here is exactly what will be seen by your recipients, so
try to make it clear who you are!
When finished, click Next.
Step 4

Type your email address exactly.
*** NOTE
FOR ADVIZEXWEB AND MIDWEST WEB CUSTOMERS ***
For the rest of this document, you will substitute advizexweb.com or mwweb.com where
you see mailbag.net. Unless you have specifically asked for a new Marinar mailbag.net
address, your e-mail address is still in the format user@advizexweb.com or user@mwweb.com,
just as it has always been. We have no plan of forcing a change in the future, but
if you'd like a new e-mail address in mailbag.net, please contact us at
support@marinar.com.
When finished, click Next.
Step 5

Type the names of the POP3 and SMTP servers,
respectively. For mailbag.net users, these are both mail.mailbag.net.
For advizexweb.com users, these are both mail.advizexweb.com. For mwweb.com
customers, these are both mail.mwweb.com. Be sure these are entered carefully
and spelled correctly, else you will not be able to send mail, receive mail, or both!
When finished, click Next.
Step 6

Enter your mail server user name. For mailbag.net
customers, this is just the first part of your e-mail address. For example, if your
e-mail address is user@mailbag.net, then your mail server user name is just 'user'.
For mwweb.com and advizexweb.com users, your mail server user name is your full e-mail
address. So if your e-mail address is user@mwweb.com, your mail server user name is
'user@mwweb.com'.
If you want Outlook Express to require a password every time it checks for mail,
uncheck the Remember Password option here. For most users, however, leaving
this checked will simplify and expediate the process of receiving their e-mail.
If you are unsure, leave it checked.
Do NOT select "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)." This will most
certainly prevent you from receiving your mail.
When finished, click Next.
Step 7

The configuration process is now complete!
Click Finish to begin using your newly configured Marinar e-mail
account!
Step 8

If you followed these simple instructions to
the letter, this is what you see.
Click Close to the lower right,
and you're completely finished!
That's all there is to it! You're now ready to
send and receive e-mail using Outlook Express, the Internet's most popular mail
program! Combined with the fast and reliable service offered by Marinar Communications,
you've got a powerful, versatile solution to your Internet mailing needs!
